UAE Visa Renewal Regulations Updated. All You Need To Know…
12th July 2020
Due to Covid 19, the UAE Cabinet previously announced that all UAE residence visas and entry permits expiring after 1st March 2020 would be automatically be extended until the end of the year. This visa extension has now been updated with immediate effect. Under the updated regulations, a three month grace period now supercedes those previous regulations.
What does the grace period for renewing visas and Emirates ID cards mean?
For residents inside the country
For residents inside the UAE with a residence visa which has expired since 1st March 2020, the extension period has been reduced and the visa and Emirates ID card must be renewed before 11th October 2020. However, the renewals will be actioned in phases in order to manage the quantity of renewals and avoid delays:
If your visa expired during March or April, you can apply to renew it from today (12th April 2020).
If your visa expired in May, you can apply to renew it from 8th August 2020.
If your visa expired in June and up until 11th July, you can apply to renew it from 10th September 2020.
For residents outside the country
For residents outside the UAE with a residence visa which has expired since 1st March 2020, or have exceeded a period of six months outside of the UAE, a grace period is granted – this hasn’t been clarified, but it will be necessary to apply for ICA or GDRFA approval to travel back to the UAE as flights resume from your destination.
