Visiting The UAE Is About To Get Much Easier - 10 Entry Visa Types

A new and expanded selection of entry visa types are due to come into force in the UAE next month which will better reflect the purpose of the visit and provide more flexibility for visitors. Valid for 60 days from the date of issuance and renewable for the same period, all of the entry visa types will be available for single and multiple entry.


10 UAE Entry Visa Types


Job Exploration Entry Visa

This visa is for young talents and skilled professionals to explore job opportunities in the UAE and it doesn’t require a sponsor or host. Applicants must fit into the first, second or third skills levels of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) or be a fresh graduate from one of the top 500 universities in the world; and, as a minimum educational qualification, hold a Batchelor’s degree (or equivalent).


Business Entry Visa

This entry visa is for investors and entrepreneurs to explore business and investment opportunities in the UAE and it doesn’t require a sponsor or host.


Tourist Visa

In addition to the regular tourist visa that is sponsored by tourism establishments in the UAE, a five-year multiple-entry tourist visa is introduced. This entry visa, which doesn’t require a sponsor or host, allows the individual to stay in the country for up to 90 continuous days and is renewable for the same period, provided that the entire stay does not exceed more than 180 days per year.


Applicants need to provide of a proof of a minimum bank balance of US$4,000 (or its equivalent in foreign currencies) for the six months prior to submitting the application, valid health insurance and confirmation of accommodation with the application.


Entry Permit to Visit Relatives or Friends

This entry visa is for individuals to visit friends or relatives in the UAE and doesn’t require a sponsor or a host.


Entry Permit for a Temporary Work Mission

This entry visa is for individuals who have a temporary work assignment like probation testing or a project-based mission. It is sponsored by the employer and requires a temporary work contract or a letter from the employer clarifying the visit purpose and proof of fitness to work.


Entry Permit for Study and Training

This entry visa is for individuals attending training and study courses and/or participating in internship programmes. The sponsor can be universities, or educational/research institutions licensed in the UAE, or government or private entities. It will be necessary to supply a letter from the entity clarifying the details of the study/training/internship programme and its duration, confirmation of accommodation, commercial license and establishment card of the sponsor with the application.

This entry visa costs AED600.* (Dubai)


Medical Treatment Entry Visa

This entry visa requires sponsorship by a medical establishment. It is also possible to apply for an entry visa for a patient’s escort. In both instances, it will be necessary to supply copies of the patient’s medical reports with the application.

A single entry visa costs AED600 (Dubai)*

A multiple entry visa costs AED1,450 (Dubai)*


Diplomatic Affairs Entry Visa

This entry visa is specifically for holders of diplomatic, special and UN passports.


Emergency Entry Visa

This entry visa is for transit, sailors, flight crews, medical and flight emergencies.


GCC Residents Entry Visa

This entry visa is for residents of GCC countries and their escorts.


Will Visa On Arrival Still Be Available?

If you are a passport holder of one of the following 20 countries/territories, no advance visa arrangements are required to visit the UAE. You are automatically eligible for a free visa on arrival at Immigration:

Andorra, Australia, Brunei, Canada, China, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Kazakhstan, Macau, China, Malaysia, Mauritius, Monaco, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, San Marino, Singapore, Ukraine, United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, United States of America and Vatican City.
